Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) software can be used for a variety of applications such as helping to guard national security, assisting the police in monitoring vehicle movements for potential criminal activity, or just making sure that no unauthorised personnel gain access to a private car parking facility.

Cameras capture car number plates and then relay the information back to a central database. If a number is recognised, a pre-set instruction can be activated such as lifting a parking barrier or having a vehicle's movements recorded. We are also able to provide CCTV, access control and digital recording to complement this service.

This important technology has many uses – from fundamental car park access control to more intricate national-scale criminal investigations.

CDS is able to integrate ANPR optical character recognition (OCR) systems into a number of existing security set-ups, as well as creating new systems pre-equipped with the technology. In this way, current CCTV networks can be converted into vehicle-tracking systems designed to spot stolen or wanted vehicles, or trace the movement of suspects during or following a crime, linking to any number of national or local databases throughout the UK.
