Filwood Broadway CCTV system
In June 2006 the CCTV system on Filwood Broadway in Knowle West went live having immediate success
In order to secure the future of the local traders & residents, funding was secured from Neighbourhood Renewal to purchase the cameras, with contributions from local traders and Bristol Churches Housing Association to fund the camera monitoring, the retail area’s of the Broadway are now secure in the knowledge that both their property and people are protected. With the independent consultancy and support of ‘Global MSC’ the group determined the solution required and a specification and tender process was developed to ensure maximised security. The objective was to seek an installer that could provide a cost effective, quality driven solution that met the demands of the group and the overcome the countless problems they were dealing with.
Computerised & Digital Security Systems (CDS) based in South Wales were selected following a tender process and installed 6 cameras in the area which provide excellent images both throughout the day and night. These images are recorded and available to the police to investigate crimes & incidents. CDS have 21 years experience in installing & maintaining integrated security equipment across the UK and completed the project within timescales professionally & efficiently.
One of the many exceptional features of these cameras installed by CDS are their incredible accuracy which can zoom into facial details and items held, or pan out to take in the whole street – none of which the potential offender would be aware of.
There have already been some notable successes where Police have worked with CCTV monitoring centre e.g. Detaining a man waving a samurai sword, a number of youths driving stolen vehicles, and men breaking into the local swimming pool – all of which have led to the police appearing within minutes and making arrests.
Residents and traders requested the new system to help fight against the increase in the levels of open drug dealing and anti social behaviour. However, in the last month, residents local to the Broadway have reported the improvements in the area and a sense of security knowing these camera’s are a form of protection to them and their properties.
Residents are encouraged to continue to report crime to the police, and with the support of CCTV, crimes will continue to reduce because vandals will be caught, offenders will be identified and the arrests will be made.
